Last Commissions of 2024
Finished commissions from 2024…
Here are some of the commssions I didnt have time to share with you from 2024.
Diamond Ring & Sapphire Brooch
Julie had inherited a wide range of gold rings and wanted to use them to have silver pieces made instead. With a huge selection of stones within the rings to choose from I was spoilt for choice. Julie was drawn to two specific designs within my collection so I started there. The central diamond was in her original engagement ring and she wanted this set into a statement silver ring in the style of my asymmetric ring just on a bigger scale. We went through different brooch options for the sapphires and Julie liked the scatter style. I reduced the original scale of the brooch and did a scatter of 5 sapphires. The cost of scrapping the gold rings has been put towards making these pieces and with a few more to come I’ll be showing these pieces at a later date.
Ruby and Diamond cluster ring
Irene came to me with a selection of unworn 9ct gold jewellery, her engagement ring (which was now too small) and some other pieces of gold to use. She wanted a cluster style ring using the marquise rubies and round diamonds from her engagement ring. I set about coming up with some designs and she settled on a 5 stone cluster style. I always like to do a silver sample so that the customer can see and try on the ring before committing to casting in the gold. We also scrapped the 9ct gold to set against the cost of the whole commission.
Diamond ring
Louise came to the shop and fell in love with some of the cluster ring designs. She had had a remodel done already using some heirloom jewellery and had a gold bar left over. There was the perfect amount to make a chunky cluster ring. I made a silver sample so Louise could see the scale of the piece and then committed to making it in her gold. We used every scrap of gold including some scatter shapes down the shank of the silver band.
Camino de Santiago necklace
Kevin and Linda visited the shop in Callander with a very clear brief of what they wanted. They had walked the camino de Santiago at least three times and wanted to commemorate the journey with some jewellery made for their anniversary and Lindas birthday. The brief was to include the famous scallop shell which is used as a way finder throughout the route. I suggested a mixture of silver and gold would be a lovely combination to use and I went about doing a set of designs. A design was chosen and the combination of 9ct gold and silver was the metal choice. I’m so pleased with how this design turned out and it was so special to be apart of such a meaningful story behind the piece.
